RPSC AO 2024 MCQ (Single Correct) +1 −0.33

Agri-Silvi-Pasture system of Agroforestry includes :

Agroforestry systems are classified based on component combinations into Agri-silviculture (Crops + Trees), Silvo-pastoral (Trees + Pasture/Livestock), and Agrosilvopastoral (Crops + Trees + Pasture/Livestock).
Agri-Silvi-Pasture integrates herbaceous agricultural field crops ('Agri'), woody forest or multipurpose trees ('Silvi'), and forage grasses/legumes with grazing animals ('Pasture').
This multi-tier integrated land-use system optimizes soil conservation, biological diversity, and year-round economic returns in arid and semi-arid regions.
Hence, Crops + Trees + Pasture / animals is the correct answer (Option 3).

Q.2

RPSC AO 2024 MCQ (Single Correct) +1 −0.33

When the soil is in good tilth, the capillary and non-capillary pores would be roughly in ratio :

1 : 1 1 : 1 1 : 2 1 : 2 1 : 3 1 : 3 2 : 1 2 : 1

Good soil tilth describes the physical condition of soil in relation to plant growth, characterized by stable granular/crumb structure and optimum porosity.
In ideal soil in good tilth, total pore space occupies approximately 50% of soil volume, equally divided into macro-pores (non-capillary pores for aeration and drainage) and micro-pores (capillary pores for water storage).
This gives an optimum pore size ratio of 1 : 1 between capillary and non-capillary pores, ensuring a balanced air-water regime for roots.
Hence, the ratio is 1 : 1 (Option 1).

Q.3

RPSC AO 2020 MCQ (Single Correct) +1 −0.33

Suitable harrow in orchards is —

In fruit orchards and plantations, soil must be tilled close to tree trunks beneath overhanging branches without the tractor driving directly under the trees.
An 'Off-set disc harrow' consists of two gangs of discs acting in opposite directions, where the implement hitch can be offset to either the left or right of the tractor centerline.
This enables the tractor to drive safely down the open inter-row alley while the offset harrow extends beneath low branches, tilling weeds close to the tree bases without causing mechanical damage to fruit limbs.
Hence, the suitable harrow in orchards is the off-set disc harrow (Option 3).

Q.5

RPSC AO 2014 MCQ (Single Correct) +3 −1

The concept of using the same land or portion of it, simultaneously or sequentially for fodder, food and fuel is known as —

Forage forestry represents an integrated agroforestry system where land is managed to optimize the production of fodder, food, and fuel (the 3Fs) simultaneously or sequentially.
Ley farming is the rotational cropping of arable food crops with pasture grasses to improve soil structure.
Horti-pastoral involves integrating fruit trees with grasses for pasture.
Hence, the system designated specifically for food, fodder, and fuel production is Forage forestry (Option 4).
