MCQ (Single Correct)

Hydrometer measures :

hydrometer is an instrument used to measure the specific gravity (or relative density) of liquids based on Archimedes' principle of flotation.
The depth to which the weighted glass bulb sinks in a liquid is inversely proportional to the liquid's specific gravity relative to pure water (calibrated at a standard reference temperature).
In agricultural engineering, hydrometers are used to test tractor battery electrolyte ($1.26-1.28$ specific gravity) and soil particle size distribution (Bouyoucos hydrometer method).
According to RPSC AAO official key, Specific Gravity (Option 1) is the precise parameter measured.

MCQ (Single Correct)

Which machine is being popularly used to seed wheat in rice residue without conventional tillage?

Conventional zero-till drills choke and fail when operating in standing or loose paddy stubble left behind by combine harvesters.
The 'Happy Seeder' (developed collaboratively by PAU Ludhiana and ACIAR) combines stubble flailing with zero-till seeding.
Rotating flail blades cut and lift the loose paddy straw in front of the seed furrow openers, sow wheat seed and fertilizer into bare soil, and deposit the cut straw back as surface mulch behind the machine.
This eliminates the need for stubble burning and conserves soil moisture. Thus, Happy Seeder (Option 2) is the correct answer.

MCQ (Single Correct)

If the stream of water coming out of the orifice discharges under water, name the water flow measuring device :

An orifice is an opening with closed perimeter through which water flows. If the downstream water level rises above the top edge of the orifice so that the discharging jet emerges entirely under water, it is designated as a 'Submerged Orifice' (or drowned orifice).
The effective head causing flow ($H$) in a submerged orifice is the difference in elevation between the upstream and downstream water surfaces ($H = h_1 - h_2$).
In a 'Free Flow Orifice', the discharging jet discharges freely into the open atmosphere.
Thus, when discharge occurs under water, the device is a Submerged orifice (Option 2).

MCQ (Single Correct)

Primary and secondary tillage operations are being performed simultaneously through a farm implement named as :

Rotavator (rotary tiller) is a tractor-PTO powered tillage implement equipped with L-shaped or C-shaped blades mounted on a rotor spinning at high speed.
In a single pass, it cuts, shatters, pulverizes, and levels the soil while thoroughly incorporating crop residues and manures.
By completing both deep cutting (primary tillage) and fine pulverization/seedbed finishing (secondary tillage) in one pass, it saves significant tractor fuel, time, and labour.
Hence, the Rotavator (Option 3) performs primary and secondary tillage simultaneously.
