Match the Following +4 −1

Match the following fisheries enhancement strategies with their descriptions:

Choose the correct answer from the options given below :

List - I Strategy List - II Description
A	Artificial upwelling Artificial upwelling	I	Creating conditions for vertical layering of water masses Creating conditions for vertical layering of water masses
B	Ranching Ranching	II	Introducing nutrients to stimulate phytoplankton growth Introducing nutrients to stimulate phytoplankton growth
C	Ocean fertilization Ocean fertilization	III	Capturing juvenile fish for rearing and release into the wild Capturing juvenile fish for rearing and release into the wild
D	Stratification Stratification	IV	Manipulating ocean currents to bring nutrient-rich water to the surface Manipulating ocean currents to bring nutrient-rich water to the surface

(A) - (I), (B) - (III), (C) - (II), (D) - (IV) (A) - (IV), (B) - (III), (C) - (II), (D) - (I) Correct (A) - (I), (B) - (II), (C) - (III), (D) - (IV) (A) - (III), (B) - (IV), (C) - (I), (D) - (II)

Fisheries Enhancement Strategies Matching:
Artificial Upwelling $\to$ (IV) Manipulating ocean currents to bring nutrient-rich water to the surface: Engineering interventions (pipes, submerged deflectors, wave pumps) to pump cold, nutrient-rich deep ocean water to the euphotic zone to fuel primary productivity.
Ranching $\to$ (III) Capturing juvenile fish for rearing and release into the wild: Hatchery propagation and rearing of juvenile fish/shellfish followed by their release into natural open waters for subsequent harvest.
Ocean Fertilization $\to$ (II) Introducing nutrients to stimulate phytoplankton growth: Artificial iron, nitrate, or phosphate seeding of High-Nutrient Low-Chlorophyll (HNLC) ocean zones to trigger diatom blooms.
Stratification $\to$ (I) Creating conditions for vertical layering of water masses: Thermal or haline density stratification that stabilizes distinct vertical layers of water.
Matching Summary:

$$\text{(A)-(IV), (B)-(III), (C)-(II), (D)-(I)}$$

Correct Option: Option 2.
