Q79: What is the ideal seed rate for okra for the... - Pomology, Plantation & Spices, Olericulture, PHT, Floriculture & Breeding - ICAR AIEEA PG 2024 - Horticulture | Agrigyan

• Correct Answer: 8-10 kg/ha.
• In okra (Abelmoschus esculentus):

  - Rainy Season (Kharif): Plants exhibit vigorous vegetative branching and require wider spacing ($60\times 30\text{ cm}$ or $45\times 30\text{ cm}$); hence the seed rate is $8\text{--}10\text{ kg/ha}$.
  - Summer Season (Zaid): Plants remain shorter and less branched due to high temperatures, requiring closer spacing ($30\times 15\text{ cm}$ or $45\times 15\text{ cm}$); hence the seed rate is higher ($18\text{--}22\text{ kg/ha}$).
