Which one of the following increases by eliminating noise in the communication process?

Fidelity in communication theory:

Feedback: The reaction/response sent back by the receiver to the sender.
Fidelity (Correct): Defined by David Berlo as the faithful and accurate reproduction of the sender's intended message at the receiver's end with minimal distortion. Noise refers to extraneous disturbances and barriers in the channel. As Noise $\to 0$, Fidelity reaches its maximum.
Empathy: The ability to project oneself into the role and feelings of another person.
Homophily: The degree to which interacting pairs are similar in certain attributes (beliefs, education, social status).

Which of the following is a personal cosmopolite source of communication?

Everett Rogers' classification of communication channels:

Personal Localite: Sources within the local social system involving interpersonal contact (Fellow farmers, friends, neighbors, local leaders) -> (A, B).
Personal Cosmopolite (Correct): Individuals originating outside the local social system who interact face-to-face with clients (Extension agents, Subject Matter Specialists, commercial sales agronomists) -> (C).
Impersonal Cosmopolite: Mass media channels originating from outside the social system (Television, radio, newspapers) -> (D).

Attributes of a competent communicator (J. P. Leagans):

Channel Competence: Skilled in selecting channel combinations and using them effectively.
Subject-Matter Mastery: Understands message content, scientific validity, timeliness, and practical utility for farmers.
Incorrect: Assuming one is always understood reflects communication complacency; skilled communicators actively verify comprehension through feedback.
Message Treatment Skill: Proficient in organizing, simplifying, illustrating, and tailoring message presentation to audience level.
Incorrect: Talking when listeners are inattentive violates basic principles of audience empathy and timing.

Therefore, (A), (B) and (D) only are true attributes of a good communicator.

Charles R. Wright's defining characteristics of mass communication:

Audience: Directed toward a large, heterogeneous, and anonymous mass public.
Incorrect: Messages are transmitted publicly, openly, and non-privately.
Message nature: Transient and fleeting in character (rapidly consumed, intended for immediate consumption).
Incorrect: Uses mass institutional media technologies (radio, TV, print, digital), not exclusively interpersonal channels.
