What is the title of Lord Northbourne's book where he introduced the term 'organic farming'?

One Straw Revolution वन स्ट्रॉ रेवोल्यूशन Soil and Health सॉइल एंड हेल्थ Living Earth लिविंग अर्थ Look to the Land लुक टू द लैंड

The English agriculturalist Lord Northbourne (Walter James, 4th Baron Northbourne) first coined the term 'organic farming' in his seminal book published in 1940.
The title of this historical book is 'Look to the Land', in which he described the farm as an integrated, living, organic whole ('the farm as organism').
'An Agricultural Testament' and 'The Soil and Health' were authored by Sir Albert Howard (father of modern composting).
'The One-Straw Revolution' was written by Masanobu Fukuoka (natural farming). Thus, Lord Northbourne's book is 'Look to the Land'.

Hence, the title of the book is Look to the Land (Option 4).

MCQ (Single Correct) +1 −0.33

Which millet has short duration and tolerance to both drought and waterlogging?

Little millet (Panicum sumatrense, locally Kutki) is an exceptionally robust minor cereal adapted to harsh marginal lands of tribal belts in India.
It exhibits an extra-early maturity cycle, completing its life cycle in only 65 to 75 days, which enables it to easily escape terminal drought.
Uniquely among millets, little millet possesses specialized root aerenchyma tissue enabling it to withstand periodic soil inundation and waterlogging as well as severe drought.
Therefore, the short-duration millet exhibiting dual tolerance to both drought and water stagnation is Little millet.

Hence, the correct millet is Little millet (Option 3).

MCQ (Single Correct) +1 −0.33

Why is shallow sowing often less effective in chickpea cultivation particularly in rainfed and dryland areas?

Causes seed rotting due to over-irrigation. Results in nutrient leaching. Leads to premature flowering. Associated with poor germination due to low surface soil moisture.

In rainfed and dryland regions, post-monsoon conserved soil moisture recedes rapidly from the top 5-6 cm of the soil profile due to high surface evaporation.
If chickpea (Cicer arietinum) is placed at a shallow depth (2-4 cm), the topsoil dries out before the bold seed can imbibe adequate water (chickpea seeds require absorbing ~100% of their dry weight in water for germination), resulting in desiccated seeds and erratic, poor seedling emergence.
Deep sowing (8-10 cm) places the seed in contact with stable sub-surface capillary moisture and also reduces the incidence of collar rot and Fusarium wilt.
Thus, shallow sowing fails because of poor germination caused by low surface moisture.

Hence, the correct reason is Option 4.

MCQ (Single Correct) +1 −0.33

Which pair is correct?

Tertiary unit efficiency - Combined efficiency of water conveyance and application Irrigation system efficiency - Combined efficiency of water conveyance and distribution Field application efficiency - Ratio of water delivered to the field and water in the reservoir Distribution efficiency - Ratio of water delivered to distribution channel and water in the reservoir

Irrigation efficiencies quantify water conservation from source diversion down to plant root zone uptake.
Irrigation system efficiency expresses the composite engineering effectiveness of conveying water through canals and distributing it across the command network (combining conveyance and distribution efficiencies).
Field application efficiency is defined as the ratio of water stored in the crop root zone to the water delivered to the field plot (not reservoir water).
Water distribution efficiency measures the uniformity with which water is applied across the field. Thus, Option 2 is the officially and technically correct pair.

Hence, the correct pair is Option 2.
