MCQ (Single Correct) +1 −0.33

Soil taxonomic category which is most useful for making land use plans of a small area

Family provides broad groupings of series with similar physical and chemical properties.
Soil Order is the highest, most generalized taxonomic level (e.g., Alfisols), useful only for continental or global mapping.
Soil Series ( ) is the lowest, most specific, and homogeneous categorical level in USDA Soil Taxonomy, defining nearly uniform profile morphological, physical, and chemical characteristics; hence it is the most valuable and indispensable category for local, farm-scale, and small-area land use planning.
Great Group is an intermediate level too broad for farm-level recommendations.

Hence, the correct option is (C).

MCQ (Single Correct) +1 −0.33

Alluvial soils are an example of following order of the genetic system of soil classification :

Zonal soils are mature soils with well-developed horizons controlled by macroclimate and vegetation.
Under the genetic system of soil classification (Dokuchaev-Baldwin-Kellogg-Thorp, 1938), Azonal soils are immature, young soils lacking distinct genetic horizon differentiation because of recent deposition or continuous erosion; Alluvial soils (recent river sediments) are the classic representative example of Azonal soils (corresponding to Entisols in modern taxonomy).
Intrazonal soils have morphology dominated by local factors like excess salts or high water tables.
Low land is a physiographic descriptor, not a genetic taxonomic order.

Hence, the correct option is (B).
