MCQ (Single Correct)

Calligonum polygonoides is

A tree species of grassland ecosystem of Humid area आर्द्र क्षेत्र के घास के मैदान की एक वृक्ष प्रजाति A prominent deciduous forest species पर्णपाती वन की एक प्रमुख प्रजाति A perennial shrub of sand-dunes ecosystem A rare plant of Mangrove ecosystem

Detailed Ecological Analysis of Calligonum polygonoides:

Perennial Shrub of Sand-Dunes (Option 3): Calligonum polygonoides (locally known as 'Phog' in Rajasthan) is a rigid, almost leafless, highly drought-hardy, psammophytic perennial shrub (Polygonaceae) characteristic of shifting and stabilized sand dunes of the Thar Desert. Its deep and extensive root network plays a vital role in sand dune stabilization and soil binding. Hence, Option 3 is correct.
Options 1, 2, and 4: Entirely incorrect habitats; it is an obligate xerophyte of hyper-arid desert sand dunes, not humid, deciduous, or mangrove ecosystems.

MCQ (Single Correct)

Contour hedgerow intercropping system is also called as

Detailed Analysis of Contour Hedgerow Systems:

Sloping Agricultural Land Technology (SALT) (Option 2): Developed by the Mindanao Baptist Rural Life Center in the Philippines, SALT is a soil-conserving agroforestry system based on contour hedgerow intercropping. Nitrogen-fixing woody shrubs (e.g., Flemingia macrophylla, Desmodium rensonii, Leucaena) are planted in dense double rows along contour lines across the slope, with agricultural crops cultivated in the alley bands between the hedgerows. Hence, Option 2 is correct.
Options 1, 3, and 4: Broad descriptive phrases, but SALT is the specific internationally recognized formal technology name.
