Q.8
ICAR AIEEA PG Forestry / Agroforestry 14 July 2023 Shift-1 Paper
MCQ (Single Correct) +4 −1
English
________ is a build up board having a core of light material, faced on both sides with a relatively thin layer of material having high strength properties.
EXPLANATION Composite Wood and Wood-Based Panels: Plywood, Particle Board, Fiberboard and Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL)

Definitions of composite wood products:

  • Plywood consists of odd-numbered plies of thin wood veneers glued with grains at right angles.
  • Laminated wood consists of layers of timber bonded with grain parallel.
  • Sandwich board: A composite panel constructed by bonding two thin, strong, dense facing skins (metal, veneer, or fiberglass) to a thick, lightweight core (cellular foam, balsa, or honeycomb), providing high structural stiffness at minimal weight.
  • Fibre board is manufactured from refined wood fibres consolidated under heat and pressure.

    Option breakdown:
  • Plywood has cross-laminated veneers.
  • Laminated wood has parallel veneers.
  • Sandwich board is faced with strong skins over a light core.
  • Fibreboard is made of wood fibres.
