In the Indian dairy market, approximately 45–50% of milk is consumed at the producer household level. Out of the marketable surplus, organized sector players (cooperatives and registered private dairies) procure only about 20% (approx. 10% by cooperatives and 10% by private dairies), while the rest is handled by the unorganized sector.
