An indented cylinder separator (trieur) consists of a rotating horizontal metal cylinder lined with hemispherical indentations (pockets). As the cylinder rotates, shorter grains (or broken kernels and weed seeds) fit into the pockets and are lifted to the top, falling into an internal collection trough, while longer grains remain in the bottom bed. Hence, it separates grains strictly on the basis of Length.
एक इंडेंटेड सिलेंडर सेपरेटर (Indented cylinder separator / trieur) में अर्धगोलाकार गड्ढों (pockets) से सुसज्जित एक घूर्णन करने वाला क्षैतिज धातु सिलेंडर होता है। जैसे ही सिलेंडर घूमता है, छोटे दाने (या टूटे हुए दाने और खरपतवार के बीज) इन गड्ढों में समा जाते हैं और ऊपर उठकर आंतरिक संग्रह गर्त में गिर जाते हैं, जबकि लंबे दाने नीचे के तल पर ही रह जाते हैं। अतः यह अनाज को पूर्णतः लंबाई (Length) के आधार पर अलग करता है।
