MCQ (Single Correct) +4 −1

Which one of the following species is exempted from transit permits from agroforestry plantation?

Detailed Analysis of Transit Permit Regulations:

Bamboo (Option 3): Through the Indian Forest (Amendment) Act, 2017, the Government of India amended Section 2(7) of the Indian Forest Act, 1927, removing bamboo grown in non-forest areas (such as private farmlands and agroforestry plantations) from the legal definition of 'tree'. Consequently, farmers do not require felling or transit permits to harvest and transport agroforestry bamboo, incentivizing bamboo agroforestry. Hence, Option 3 is correct.
Teak, Mahua, and Rosewood (Options 1, 2, 4): Valuable or reserved timber/tree species that remain strictly governed by state transit permit rules and felling permissions in most Indian states.
