Bio-drainage (biological drainage) is the vertical reclamation and lowering of high water tables using fast-growing, deep-rooted, highly transpiring vegetation (especially tree species like Eucalyptus tereticornis, Casuarina, Populus, and Acacia).
Unlike conventional subsurface tile drainage which generates saline effluent requiring safe disposal, bio-drainage removes excess groundwater solely via biological evapotranspiration into the atmosphere without producing drainage wastewater.
बायो ड्रेनेज (Bio drainage / जैव जल निकास) अतिरिक्त भूजल और जलभराव की समस्या को दूर करने की एक पर्यावरण-अनुकूल तकनीक है। इसमें उच्च वाष्पोत्सर्जन दर और गहरी जड़ों वाले वृक्षों (जैसे यूकेलिप्टस, कैसुराइना, पॉपलर आदि) को लगाकर जल स्तर को नीचे लाया जाता है।
इसमें बिना किसी यांत्रिक पाइप या खाइयों के केवल पौधों की जैविक श्वसन/वाष्पोत्सर्जन क्रिया द्वारा भूमि से अतिरिक्त पानी बाहर निकाला जाता है।
