Q79: Parent material transported by wind is called: - Pedology, Soil Physics, Soil Colloids, Problem Soils & Water Quality - ICAR AIEEA PG 2024 - Physical Science | Agrigyan

Soil parent materials are classified by their mode of transport and deposition: Aeolian (Eolian): Parent materials transported and deposited by wind (encompassing both windblown sand dunes and windblown silt/loess). Colluvium: Parent material moved down slopes under the direct action of gravity. Alluvium: Parent material transported and deposited by running water in floodplains and river deltas. Loess is a specific textural type of wind-blown deposit (silt-sized aeolian dust), whereas Aeolian is the broader, universal term for all wind-transported materials. Therefore, Option 1 (Aeolian) is the correct answer.
