24% 24% 18% 18% 20% 20% 16% 16%

The contribution of agriculture and allied sectors to India's economy is evaluated by the National Statistical Office (NSO) and reported in the Economic Survey.
According to the Economic Survey of India 2024-25, agriculture and allied sectors contributed approximately 16.0% to the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP at current prices) in FY 2023-24 (Advance Estimates), while its share in total Gross Value Added (GVA) was approximately 17.7%.
In earlier surveys (2020-21), the share briefly rose to 20% due to pandemic resilience, but normalized around 16–18%.
RPSC officially keyed Option 4 (16%) designating the 16% GDP contribution.

Hence, the correct option is (D).

What was the average annual growth rate of India's agriculture sector during the financial years 2016-17 to 2022-23?

Macroeconomic evaluations in the Economic Survey highlighted robust resilience and sustained growth in agriculture and allied activities across the 2016-17 to 2022-23 six-year period.
In the official answer key designated by RPSC for ARO Agronomy 2024, Option 2 (5 percent) is designated as the official correct answer.
While some statistical releases estimate trend growth around 4.0-4.6%, the examination key officially validates 5 percent as the evaluated growth benchmark.
This robust expansion was underpinned by consistent monsoon rainfall, record foodgrain harvests, enhanced crop credit flows, and robust post-harvest infrastructure support.

Hence, according to the official key, the average annual growth rate was 5 percent (Option 2).

MCQ (Single Correct) +1 −0.33

The total food grain production in Rajasthan during 2020-21 is -

This question was officially dropped/deleted by RPSC in the final answer key due to discrepancies and revisions across published statistical series.

In the Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES) Agricultural Statistics and Economic Review of Rajasthan, the total food grain production for 2020-21 was initially reported at 271.33 lakh tonnes (Advance Estimates).
In subsequent finalized statistical publications of DES Rajasthan, the final food grain production for 2020-21 was officially recorded at 273.24 lakh tonnes (compared to 265.81 lakh tonnes in 2019-20).
Because none of the discrete options (239, 249, 259, 269 lakh tonnes) precisely matched the official advance estimate (271.33 lakh t) or the final published statistic (273.24 lakh t), and the closest option (269 lakh t) conflicted with official revisions, RPSC officially deleted the question from evaluation.

Hence, this question was officially dropped by RPSC in the final answer key.

MCQ (Single Correct) +1 −0.33

Agriculture is not merely growing crops but more of applied -

Agriculture is fundamentally defined as applied ecology (agroecology) because it manipulates biological organisms, energy flows, and environmental factors to produce food and fiber.
Agronomists manage the ecological interactions between crop communities (biotic components) and soil, water, atmospheric radiation, and nutrients (abiotic environment).
An ecosystem is the physical structural-functional unit, while ecology is the scientific study of relationships between living organisms and their environment.
Sustainable agriculture requires implementing ecological principles such as nutrient cycling, biological pest regulation, and biodiversity conservation.

Hence, agriculture is more of applied Ecology (Option 3).
